Tech-Filled 12.5-Acre Colorado Estate Hits Auction Block

A 12-and-a-half acre estate in a private, gated community in northern Colorado will hit the auction block on Oct. 30 with a starting bid of $500,000.

The six-bedroom home in Meadow Green Farms, near Longmont, was previously listed for $2.19 million, according to the listing with luxury home auction site Interluxe. Laden with tech, almost everything in the fully automated house can be controlled with a smartphone, from the solid copper spa, to the security system and cameras and the thermostats, according to the home’s auction page.

“The seller has relocated out of state and has no use for the home,” said Scott Kirk, president and founder of Interluxe in an email. “They’re very well off financially and rather than continue to hold the property, maintain it, and worry about it, they’d rather simply get it sold now.”

The seller, a dentist, paid $1.05 million for the house in 2009, property records show.
“[The seller] finished the basement out while he lived in the home with a home theater room, wet bar, full luxurious bath and bedroom,” said Kevin Byrne, the listing agent with Steps Real Estate, adding that a buyer will “appreciate the active lifestyle.” The house also has a gourmet kitchen, a five-car-garage, an outside fireplace, a heated driveway, patio and courtyard, access to a residents-only lake and mountain views.

Though unsure of how much the house will eventually sell for, “what we do know is the seller is motivated and is willing to let the market tell them what it’s worth,” Mr. Kirk said.
