NFL Player's South Charlotte Mansion Set for Auction this Week— Here's a Peek Inside

Another high-end home on Charlotte's luxury market is slated for auction.

Owned by Houston Texans cornerback Johnathan Joseph, the 15,454-square-foot gated mansion in south Charlotte's affluent Seven Eagles neighborhood is the latest upscale property set to be bid off across the Charlotte region. The auction, listed by Charlotte-based luxury real estate marketplace Interluxe, will begin Monday morning and is scheduled to end the following day.

Joseph is a Charlotte-area native, playing football at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill and later at the University of South Carolina. About to enter his 13th season in the NFL, Joseph was recently resigned to a two-year contract with the Texans, according to the Houston Chronicle. He's been with that team for eight seasons after spending the previous five with the Cincinnati Bengals, which selected Joseph in the first round of the NFL Draft in 2006.

"The seller had planned to retire here but opportunities in life changed," said Stacy Kirk, director of client development for Interluxe.

Custom built in 2008, the manor sits on a 1.6-acre lot near Quail Hollow Club and includes eight bedrooms and eight full and three half-bathrooms, with modern features found throughout. The outdoors space has a kitchen, vanishing-edge pool and basketball court. The accompanying photo gallery provides a full look at the home.

The estate on Winged Bourne had originally been listed at nearly $5 million last August and dropped in price to $4.69 million at the end of January. Joseph bought the home for $1.83 million in 2014, according to Mecklenburg County property records.

A minimum bid of $1.5 million and a 7.5% buyer's premium has been set for the home, Kirk said. A 30-day closing period follows the end of the auction.

Founded in 2013, Interluxe handles the online bidding process and marketing aspect for luxury-home customers across the country. The company has current or recent auction listings in the Carolinas and others as far away as Connecticut and Colorado.
