Professional football player and Hall of Famer, Walter Jones of the Seattle Seahawks, built a 14,000 square foot home outside of Huntsville, AL. The property was a vacation retreat for Mr. Jones and his extended family. The custom built home was designed to encompass everything that he and his large family wanted, including 15 en suite bedrooms, a regulation sized football field, a tennis court, and a massive swimming pool.
With his children now grown and the property being used less, Mr. Jones began the listing process and used multiple price reductions to try to attract interest. Buyers responded, but felt the home would be an ideal bed & breakfast or a small hotel, but the area, nor the property expenses made this practical. An end user would have to be found that had interest in such a large home with a lot of bedrooms, but with little communal interior gathering space.
